CompuRAM - Tips for the installation of additional memory

You would like to upgrade your systems with additional memory?

We made an overview about some questions that should be clarified before the installation
 of new memory upgrades:

We gladly advice you professionally:

Memory modules and upgrades exist in all imaginable specifications for all systems of well-known manufacturers.

With our long-term technical know-how, we support you in specifying the particular optimal and sustainable memory upgrades for your systems. Thus you can avoid high follow-up costs due to inefficient memory upgrades.

Questions we discuss with you are for example:
  • How to upgrade optimally with regard to the already existing memory?
What clock speed do the existing modules have?
  • Shall be upgraded to the maximum immediately or only partly? Which memory configuration resp. module organization allows a later maximum upgrade?
  • Depending on individual applications, different module specifications may be reasonable
    (e.g. with or non-ECC, Dual-Channel mode for memory-intense applications like graphics/video)

How are the exact specifications of the system that shall be upgraded

In every case, for the indication of the optimal memory upgrade it is helpful to know the exact
system specifications:

How is the exact system indication, which chipset and memory modules are already installed in what slot? These information help us on the exact indication and choice of all possible memory upgrades.

For finding these information, you may use this little system analysis tool in advance: "CPU-Z",
which is available as freeware. You may download the tool and the instructions here:

This tool provides complete results, if you are logged in as system administrator. Please find more information about this topic in our FAQ: http://www.compuram.de/faq_technik.php#T9

Does your system use the latest BIOS version already?

Before installing additional memory, you should do a BIOS update
in your system.

The BIOS (Basic Input Output System) is basically the control center of your system. All important information, settings and control functions of your system are saved in the BIOS. It is absolutely neccessary for a
properly running system to always have the latest BIOS version installed. In general, all system manufacturers offer
the latest BIOS versions for downloading on their websites. (Please also read your manual for more information.) Because the control functions in the BIOS also contain parameters as e.g. timing and memory (RAM)- settings
it is important to make sure that the latest BIOS version is installed when installing additional memory.-

Thus a BIOS update is the first solution when problems occur with new or additional components.
This is also applicable for original memory modules as well as for our CompuRAM upgrades.
