CompuRAM breaks new ground by providing essential components for the production of TUW student racing team’s bolide Driverless Edge 8. The popular and well-established Formula Student, a construction competition for racing cars between universities, introduces a new racing class in 2017: driverless bolides.

According to Maximilian Haslinger, member of TUW Racing Team, there are currently only 15 student teams worldwide developing and constructing such a vehicle.  He explains: “We, TU Wien’s racing team, are a group of students who dedicates its spare time to develop racing cars in order to gain some practical experience. Our team consists of future engineers, designers, computer scientists and managers that work together on the development and construction of a new bolide. In the contests of Formula Student at the end of the season, we are presenting the results of our hard work, competing with teams from all over the world. This means student teams taking part in different contest categories with their self-developed and built vehicles. Not only does it matter which racing car is the fastest – the total package consisting of construction, racing performance, financial planning and sales strategies is important as well. With the help of CompuRAM’s sponsoring, we are able to carry out a series of simulations for our vehicle more efficient and faster. This enables us to prepare our prototype even better and reach a better placement in the competitions!”

Thomas Bauer, Managing Director at CompuRAM, states: “We already acted as sponsor on various occasions in the past, e.g. for a local football team. However, the project of TUW Racing Team is something really different; the development of a racing car that is able to cover a certain distance without a driver sounds innovative and fascinating to us.  We are happy to support this project with some RAM memory and are always open to requests like this if they are related to interesting projects or proposals. Best wishes for success for the competition to TU Wien’s racing team!”

The Formula FSG 2017 will take place from 8th to 13th August 2017 in Hockenheim.
