About Dell
- This system is subject to special guidelines regarding the installation of additional memory upgrades. Please review your manual before placing an order, or contact our sales team. We are pleased to provide you with a compliant configuration
- The system has 4 channels per CPU with each 3 slots
- Do not install memory modules into memory slots if corresponding processor is not installed.
- The memory slots of each CPU should be populated identically
- Dual processor configurations with memory modules installed for only one processor is not supported
- Unbuffered, registered and LRDIMM modules must not be mixed
- Each memory channel can not support more than two unbuffered or two quad-rank modules
- Each memory channel can, however, three quad-rank LRDIMM be used

PowerEdge R720 R-Series RAM: Certified compatibility
The 4GB Server RAM listed have been certified by us for your PowerEdge R-Series system. That means we vouch for the compatibility of the memory modules. CompuRAM memory modules can act like an original component to supplement RAM already installed or to be used as a spare part.
In compliance with the Dell guidelines on memory upgrades, it is possible to run RAM modules from different manufacturers alongside each other in the same servers.
Please note: The figures given in the product description for criteria such as speed and timings are the minimum specifications listed by Dell and are provided for reference purposes only. For our modules we always use the most current and fastest DRAMs. That means, that we typically provide memory modules that allow an even higher timing than neccessary for your system. In the product specifications, we explicitly indicate whether these components have integrated error correction methods such as ECC RAM (Error Correctioning Code or Error Checking and Correction). -
Retention of device guarantee and OEM quality for your Dell PowerEdge R720
If you install a CompuRAM memory module in your PowerEdge R720 server, this does not affect the manufacturer’s device guarantee; most manufacturers mention this explicitly in their guarantee conditions. Your entitlement to a guarantee will therefore remain unaffected by when the slots and ports intended for hardware expansions are used appropriately.
By the way, CompuRAM memory modules are usually made the same manufacturer (OEM) as the original memory installed by the server manufacturer, e.g. Dell. The technologies that are required for the safe running of a server are also integrated features to our 240pin DIMM DDR3 upgrades.

Making the best use of installed RAM
If you have 4 GB RAM or more installed in your PowerEdge, you will need a 64-bit server operating system in order to take full advantage of this capacity. Here you will find an overview of maximum addressable RAM in all popular operating systems.
Trust in our experience and quality:
- 10 years warranty
- 100% compatibility with mentioned target system
- Flexible exchange and return options
