Sun Microsystems was founded in 1982, following a project of the Stanford University Network regarding the networking of library computers. Later, the Ultra workstations were replaced by Sun Blade workstations. On the market, during the dotcom boom, the product line became Sun's best-selling computer series. Due to their reliability and flexible expandability, many companies use Sun Ultra productively, even today.

Oracle's desktop PC series Oracle SunPCI provides single-board computers with a PCI connector, which simplifies the connection of peripheral hardware and thus, enables a flexible adaption of the devices to specific requirements in a company environment. The devices are based on x86 processors and have an integrated graphics controller as well as enhancement options, for example for more RAM. Due to its flexibility, SunPCI is still popular for productive usage.
